    Yep, open top.
And I'm not quite sure of the replacement. I'd like to get another one, but, once I step into the store it's a different story.

What a bummer. How long was it out of the tank before you noticed it? I ask because when I worked at an lfs, it was a common occurence to have fish jump but if you find them in time, you can usually revive them by putting them back in the water in a place where water will flow through their gills.

It was out for too long. I've saved a flasher wrasse and two snowflakes the same way. Really sucks that I didn't hear/see it jump. I'm blaming my yellow tang for this fish and my six-line. Not being aggressive towards them, but, the "tough guy" darting.

Yeah, firefish are really really skittish. I've had a purple one in our tank for about 2 years and I'm really quite surprised that it hasn't jumped yet.

I've never used eggcrate on top of my tank, so I'm NOT speaking from experience here, and not to be a downer, R34dawn, but I've read in a couple of places that eggcrate doesn't cut it. I guess it is better than no top, though.

I had a pearly jawfish for months when I had my 55. No covering on the tank. I "lost" him, and checked the carpet many many times, but never found him. When I put my 90 in place, while moving out the stand, I found him. He was a stunt diver apparently, he landed perfectly parallel to the stand in the back, half his body touching the carpet, half touching the wood right where the carpet bows down under the weight of the cabinet. He was dried to a crisp. In my heart I always kinda knew he jumped, but until that point had no closure.

I made the decision at that point to either cover my tank, or never own a jumper again.

I've always been of the opinion that covering a tank with glass was a bad idea anyway, as it blocks light once spray takes a foothold, and drastically cuts down on gas exchange.

I don't blame Mission for wanting another, though. Firefish, jawfish and the other "jumpers" are a beautiful, colorful entertaining bunch of fish.

Its the worst when they jump out. I had a 6 inch clown trigger jump out he had plenty of life yet. I know the pain. MY 120 has a canopy but he found a small hole in the back.
