    Hey everyone...

I was wondering what you guys thought about the ideal qt tank.

Lighting, Substrate, Filteration and decor. Salinity is another good one too.

I have a basic 10 gal, in my opinion big enough for any fish for short term care. Substrate sand, filter corner air driven (like a guppy tank). Salinity 1.018. Lights just basic 7 watt energy save bulbs.

    Thoughts?

extra tanks are always great to have, as for the sg being 1.018 im sure you can find lots of info on using diff ranges of sg for diff situations. but i say go for it post a pic or so.

All you really need is a tank, something to put it on, a heater and some cheap plastic stuff in there for the fish to hide in or behind. No substrate. No live rock. A small powerhead for water movement and surface agitation is also needed. That's about it. You do not want to run carbon. A skimmer isn't needed. And use a cheap light, if you even want to keep it on. If I were the fish, I would want it dark and mellow.

Now, as to salinity. I would keep it as close to your main tank as possible. You can shock a fish by introducing it to lower salinity too fast. If lower salinity is needed, you first introduce the specimen to the QT, then decrease the SG by no more than 0.02 per 24 hours.

+1. Tank, heater, I actually would use an airstone in lieu of a powerhead, but either or will do, and some pieces of PVC. Thats all that should be in there.
