i have some sticky gunk on my pcv for the returns from my sump. Ive tried isopropyl and CLR as well as dish soap to get the stuff off. I don't know if i want to get anything more powerful so as to kill my tank when they go in. Any ideas on wether or not i need to worry about the sticky stuff, most of its gone.

You must mean PVC, and not a positive crankcase vent. ;)

Have you tried clear PVC cleaner? I wouldn't worry too much about it after you removed most of it. Is it still sticky after like 24 hours?

I would try the PVC cleaner first.

Is the area that has the gunk on it going to be underwater when put to use?

Try a citrus cleaner like "goof off" but make sure to wash the area well and rinse it before you use the piping.

the citrus stuff worked wonders, i love traveling salespeople. The best cleaner ive ever used and you can drink it and not get sick! Good hint!

Glad to hear that worked for you.:)

I have always been amazed what that stuff can get off with not much work.
