    Thanks for the replies all.

The only time I had seen them so far- yesterday- was using my own homemade nectar.
I lookied at a total of one sites on the net, which stated 1/4 cup granulated sugar to 1 cup of water- boiling water to get it to dissolve.

I just changed it out again this morning and will be looking before I go to work.

the only bird that can hover well and fly backwards!

that's so kewl.. I love humming Birds..At my Inlaw's farm she had so many buzzing around the feeders it sounded like a Star War's Sabre fight..

My DIY recipe is like 2 cup sugar to 4 cups water.. Put in a semi clear pitcher add a few drops of Red or blue food coloring to add a brite Hue to it.. Reason for the clear pitcher is so you can see how much your adding of the color.. Just a Idea..

Sounds like a lot of sugar/water ratio! Literature says that's not good for them- too osmotic I think.
** Edit- yep checked 4 more sites- 1 to 4 sugar to water ratio.

Well I refilled this morning- and they've been back again today.
Eating/hovering on and off for about a minute, then going up and landing on the tree branch, back for more, etc.

    It is really cool

I keep my feeder out year 'round, but in the summer they are zapping everywhere. It never get sold watching them. I just got some new feeders I can't wait to put out. Right now I can hear them fighting out in my little oasis.

Now you will want to get a DSLR with a 300mm lens to get awesome close up shots of the hummers.

    They're still around!

Yesterdays pic as I was sitting 5 ft away on my deck.

He was almost buzzing right up to me, checking things out.

    Really cool Todd!

"Renee's" hummers will zip right up and look us in the eye and just hover there. We get a few species, but the Anna's are probably the prettiest. They also take baths in the little cascading water feature in that area.

I do get many bee's, they crawl thru the little hole and get in the resevoir, and die there.

This morning, I saw at least 4 HB's flying around my backyard, perching on limbs, etc.

I again put some DIY nectar in and cleaned out the bees.

It's been really hot here these last few days, and they'll still around!
