I am having to upgrade my lights and found these and was wanting to know if they were sufficient for a standard 55 gallon hard and soft coral tank. And what about the heat factor?

That is not a bad fixture. It has decent reflectors and works very well for the money.

On a 55 you should be able to keep about anything you want with those lights.

Heat, hard to say it will add heat, but it depends on how close to the tank you put the lights, but it should not be a problem.
