We've had 85 to 95 degree weather outside lately (29-35 C) and out tank still don't need no chiller :) No MH's on this puppy, just a 150watt heater to keep the temp at 78 (25/26C) and we're fine.

I wish my mantis tank had a chiller...but a chiller doesn't seem like a good investment for a nine gallon. So I have to suffer with temp swings from 77 to 80 ::) Without the cooling fans I installed, it would hit 84 degrees no problem with those superhot PC lights that thing has.

I'm glad everything's ok! And yes, fuses are supposed to be clear :D When was the last time the air filter on your car was changed? ;) (I asked my brother that same question, and he said "What's an air filter?" GAH. See what I have to live with.)

ok...now I am confused on the fuses...
I have the old one still and it says 250V 10A and the new ones say the same thing.
Should I go ahead and take this time to order ones from a marine place......it is a JBJ Artica chiller...order from them or someplace else!

I dont want to do anything that will cause more problems down the line...

    thanks

Call up the manufacturer and make certain it wont mess anything up. (Of course they'll tell you their use was specifically engineered for the chiller and nothing else will work) To see if you need to order a few extra from em

You are good to go all I was saying when I saw auto store is that most auto supplies sell on 12V fused but if its marked 250v then you are fine as it will work and is a delayed type nothing to worry about . Curt knew what you had and he is always on top of his game . I see so much stuff talked about by so many who really have less then a clue I was just trying to pass on some 35 yrs of refrigeration & controls experience to you .

Schackmel, the white you saw inside the fuse wasn't paint. It's likely silica or ceramic media utlilized by some fuse manufacturers for suppressing arcs. This way when the fuse blows, the arc produced inside doesn't keep the circuit continuous. Without it, a lot of damage can be done to the chiller in that nanosecond or two while the electrical arc keeps the blown fuse from acting like it's not a blown fuse.

It doesn't seem to be a time delay fuse from the pic I saw when I looked up your chiller, as fractional HP motors shouldn't require one, but you should definitely get the fuse that your users manual recommends.

Why not get a little pick chiller ? 90.00 or so runs on 12V and usease about 40 watts turns voltage into a sound wave length to cool water . They work very very well on a small tank 30 gals or less setting in a ambient temp of 95 or so..on a 9 gal nano it would freeze it if you wanted to :)
