Had a Korallia Evo 1400 blow up in my tank tonight. I don't see any damage to the tank or livestock so I got lucky. I figure I'll use this as an excuse for that mp40.

Anyone else have an Evo blow up on them? Not the car...

No I haven't seen one blow up, but I have one in my tank. What happened? Was there any warning signs that it was gonna go?

Lots of vibration noise with no snails or anything around the korallia.

I just bought one but haven't put it in yet. Now I'm scared! Guess I'll just go ahead and get that second mp40 :)

You can send the koralia this way then ;)

I had a koralia 4 (old bulky ones) in there for a bit more than a year without problems. Could it be calcium buildup holding on the shaft/propeller?

All pumps were recently cleaned. I know of this happening one other time. I think it is a rare occurance and should not deter others from using the pumps. I still have my others in use and am not worried about this happening again. I'm thinking something was some how damaged. If i hadn't looking in to the mp40w es, I would buy another evo 1400.

The pump literally blew a side out.

    Scary stuff!

I'm glad it's a rare occurrence as I am about to convince my brother in law to give me or sell me for very cheap a bunch of koralias he bought and never used..... not sure why... but he thinks to 750's are good enough flow for a 125 and I cannot convince him otherwise. ::)

Contact Hydor, their customer service is excellent. They like to know about any problems hobbyists are having and stand behind their products.
