Hagar or Roth?

Now, I don't know the kind of music people listen to here, I'm sure there's a huge range of types but this came up at work and created a huge commotion...Just wanted to know what people think on here!!

Who's better? (in the context of everything)

Van Halen with David Lee Roth
or
Van Halen with Sammy Hagar?

 

David Lee Roth. All the way. I saw Van Halen twice in the 80's. The 1984 tour and the one after that. So I have seen both lead singers in action. Roth is not only a better singer, but a better performer as well. He fits the group better IMO. To tell the truth, I don't listen to post Roth VH. I just don't care for it. Too bad he is so da%$ egotistical.

 

Amen brother, I totally agree. He had more style I think...It's like an even split with people, you either LOVE VH with Roth or just absolutely hate it!! I've never met someone who likes both.

It's kinda funny to look at what DLR did after Van Halen...I heard he worked as an EMT for a while somewhere...haha

 

I agree with pharmjohn, I like Sammy but not woth VH. Roth IMO was the amin atraction

 

Pink Floyd is better than all of them! (I'm feeling testy).

Actually for the music pre Hagar its all Roth because it was his type of music. But their style changes when Hager entered the picture and I don't really think Roth would sound as good singing those songs. I have seen them both several times and I will agree that Roth was a better showman than Hagar.

VH without Roth is like easy listening music. Sammy is ok by himself, but he is no Dave. He tries to be but he does not have the stones.

oh man!! You just can't compare the 2...they're in their own category!!!
