hair algae and looks like a dead/dying spot on cycloseris

    so i just got my order in from online and when i open the package and take out my cycloseris it has what appears to be a dead spot (like a little slice of pie?) and hair algae present. i have it acclimating as of 10 min ago...should i try to pick the algae off? leave it be? contact the supplier?

    Pick it off and contact the supplier. Algae doesn't grow on healthy coral flesh so you can bet that under that tuft of algae near the mouth is another dead spot. It also looks like the dead spot (pie slice) that you can see has algae growing on it which means that it was dead before they bagged it up and sold it to you.

    petsolutions...pick of the reef(wysiwyg)...and rest assured that is not what i thought i was getting...i will say that the clam i ordered along with it does look awesome and appears to be healthy...

    called em and talked to the manager...john i believe...very helpful and understanding...refunded the cycloseris and the shipping so that made me happy at least...sounded like an employee not following procedure.
