After long looking for a efficient hair algae predator.

Found most "proven" ones usually too small to keep up with problem, or did not work out as advertised.

Then out of nowhere one shows up in my Nano...;D

Came in on zoo rock long ago. Have kept from spreading and under control by many hours of pulling out by hand when gets long enough...

Don't know if just mine, but Jewel Damsel has taken a recent taste for it...

While not completely eliminating it, Jewel does keep it very nicely "mowed" down, keeping me from having to do it...

    Am happy...;D

Sweet. I think I needed like 50 of those things before I tore my 180 down and started over. ;D

Omard You run a PO4 reactor on this tank ? and a good skimmer seems like one or the other or maybe even both are lacking a little ? that type of algae will run rampant if its ever gets loose .. may want to kick the Carbonates up a tad ? water looks a little under buffered maybe .

    Mr. Tangster,

Algae on one rock...In Nano...no reactor, or skimmer for that matter...Just have poly-filter and carbon in filter chambers...(and very regular water changes ;))

The hairy green stuff has been in there a year or more and has never shown tendency to spread elsewhere (like you would expect)

Jewel, or somebody else, may have been eating it all along and I never had noticed...Probably just needed to get crop level to point so she could keep ahead of it....

I'd think about adding a skimmer on it as well as a pouch of Phosphate media but thats just me :) I'm about to build a set of lights for the little Tank we have here to serve as a coral holding system for my main tank it has a area behind the rear wall to add pouches of carbon and other medias .

So the little biocube that had the other clown in it will soon be a coral quarantine tank with some good lighting? Sounds like a great idea to me.
