Well, I have had hair algae really bad on one large rock because of overfeeding of Marine snow (FOLLOW DIRECTIONS!!!).

As a fix I went to my LFS and bought 3 large red moon snails and 2 small ones and turned my lights off for 2 days.

This afternoon the lights came on and no more hair algae. My xenia split twice during this process and everyone is happy except for one leather (could still be sleeping). One snail met his fate with a blue leg hermit :-/

Just wanted to pass along this information to anyone who has a hair algae problem.

They are the coolest looking snails I have seen. I will take pictures when I get home and post them.

wow! I've never seen those. Are they reef safe? I'd imagine all snails are....lol but better to ask! I'm having a little GHA problem right now myself. Thank you, crappy skimmer!

So far no issues on my corals.

You might want to adjust your lighting time to help out this your issue. I think it was lighting and the amount of food I was feeding. I think I will just do a 48hr blackout once a month because I tanks looks a lot better then what it did. ;D

I leave my lights on waaaay too much. lol I know this. I'm working on cutting back. But also my skimmer has never worked right. I've gotten TWO black cups of skimmate in my 6 months of running it.

Some other things that worked for me was a red lipped blenny and sea hair
