    i had a hair algae outbreak and i turned my lights of for a day and wanted to keep them off for another day or two because its getting rid of it. will it hurt my corals to do this??

    no..I have had my lights off for a week and everything was fine when i turned it back on. I have SPS, LPS and clams.
    Just start back on a shorter cycle and gradually increase time

    Yep. They can go for a while. I forgot to set my timer and they went 4 days while I was on holiday, and everything was fine ;)

    Hi Ranger - are you running any phosphate remover in your system?

    as that would help to prevent a re occurance once you have dealt with it.

    If you dont find the root of the problem, it will come right back as soon as you resume lights.

    im not running a PHOS reactor but i just put some Phosban in my canister so hopefully that will take care of the phos's

    Lights out is no solution but rather a "band aid". Employ a phosphate reactor and watch how much you feed and how old your lights are.

    my lights are only 4months old. i was gone to two weeks for the army and i had a friend take care of it and when i came home it was full of alage so im still trying to get rid of that
