If your tank isn't overly "dirty" then no bacterial additives are needed to start the bio pellets.;) Also I have a new DIY for the BRS bio pellet reactor and will post it tommorow. Its a really simple way to keep it from clogging which has been an issue for me and others using it. Other then the clogging it is a great reactor. Well made and bulletproof. I am using Dr. Tim's Bio Pearls and have had good results with them I also used his Re-Fresh and Waste away products because my tank was somewhat dirty. Definitely kicked the pellets into high gear.;)Sorry for butting in Tom.:) Cyano can kill corals so make sure you blast it away from them with a turkey baster.;D

Someone on here, maybe azdesertrat(don't hold me to that) says to wean your tank onto the biopellets by slowly adding them over a month until you reach the rec dosage! I'll see if i can find the link! I'm getting ready to buy a BRS reactor as i'm still waiting for mine from reefwerks!lol! I'll wait till tomorrow to see vinnys thread before ordering!

Yes absolutely. As with anything else you want to start slowly by adding small ammounts at a time. I did less then the manufacturers suggested just to be even safer.I still am not running what is considered the full ammount for my aquarium. Best to be cautious when changing nutrient levels in your tank.Go slow let it grow. Or something like that.;);D Heres the link for those who have not seen it and are interested in my mod to the BRS reactor.
