We discussed the high Mg method at our last club meeting, none of us had had positive results after running +1700 mg.
I have had a bit of trouble doing enough water changing. I did 15 gal per week on my 90g 20 sump system. This was inadequate and I had chemistry/algae problems until I went to 20 gal per week MINIMUM. But I only have a 20 gal mixing barrel. So it is difficult to do this. So riddle me this, because I believe WC's are the best way to get your stick on this problem. How much WC are you doing? Can you step it up? Can you do 3 weeks back to back 30%? That would be 30 gal per week for 3 weeks. THAT my friend, is a lot of lugging.

im changing ten gallons per week. I can do more but it seems like bryopsis can be killed with a step up in mag. mine is a bit low to begin with at 1200 so i will try to get it to 1500-1600 and see how it reacts.

Hey I been experiencing the same problems for the last mouth. However I have found to combat it by buying hermit crab not blue legs, but the white legs, and buying a 3'' hermit crab ( you can use a emerald green crab as well) I have a 30 gallon, and I do about a 5 gallon water change each week. Also I use a toothbrush and scrub the heck out of the algae. Seems now that a lot of the algae is starting to die off. Hope this helps
