wow! that's the fullest bush of sea weed I've had ever seen! did it came with your lr?
or did it grow in your tank? maybe the water flow isn't enough, you may want to try to nuke
your lr, then remove the remaining s in the tank, every ones advice is also a must, and cut down the lighting a bit.

Did you use Live rock on this set up ? I really don't think its hair algae myself. Is it really course to the touch and if you try to pull any does it hang on tight ? or really hard to pull a plug from the rocks ? You have any snails in the tank ? or just a bunch of empty snail shells along the bottom ?

We don't have a tester for phosphates yet.
We use a canister filter that is for 60gal. our tank is 26gal. We also have a protean skimmer.

What does it mean to nuke my live rock?? I am still new at the lingo.. Also, this stuff started growing in our tank about 1 month ago after we used regular tap water to top it off (we usually use RO from the store) and then our apartment got really hot raising the tank temp to 86F and it was that hot for almost a week. We try keep it at 78F. This is our first summer in eastern Washington so we didnt know what to expect. We are saving some money to get a tank cooler of some sort. After that week the algae just went crazy.. We have been trying to get ride of it sense.. We cut the lighting back to only 7 hour days instead of the full 12. Our water flow should be good because we have a canister filter that is meant for a 65 gal tank and ours is only 26.. Also, our LR had no algae on it when we purchased it..

Yea we used 20lbs of LR when we started, that was how we started the cycling. Then we got the two clowns once it balanced out for a fish, it took about 1 month.. We have one turbo snail, a lot of slugs, and a lot of blue legged hurmit crabs and some red legged ones.. We were told we need more turbo's but the one we have doesnt even do that good of a job.. Besides, I'm not sure if its a good idea to add anything tell this is cleared up.. What do you think..? Should we get more right now? Would it help?? The algae has the same consistency of hair, when we try to pull it off the rock it held on pretty tight. We are getting pretty desperate... It's ugly... Yesterday we did a 20% water change and we polled a lot of the algae off the rocks now we just wait to see if it helped.. We have been doing 20% water changes every week sense this started.. Also, last week we put in a phosphate sponge into our filtration system to see if that helps.. We also cut down our lights to 7 hour days.. We dont know what else we can do.. :(
