I've noticed something looking like black hair in my chaeto. I think it may be the chaeto itself turning to this. Anyone have experience with this? the rest of the chaeto looks healthy and green. I have other macros that are doing fine also.

It could be the cheato. If it doesn't get light the cheato strand will die off.

I had green hair algae that grew in my chaeto too, it drove me nuts. I would have to prune my chaeto weekly to keep it under control. When chaeto dies, it will expel it's chlorophyl and turn white. It will also become really mushy and gooey to the touch.

well i guess that means that my chaeto isn't dieing then. I'm not sure if the stuff is hair algae, it looks black/very dark brown.
