well i am moving in a few weeks, during the move i was thinking that i wanted to switch some of the sand in my tank. right now i have 1/2 crushed coral 1/2 argo corse sand i'm wanting to switch to live sand and 1/2 argo corse. is this going to be too much for my tank to handle? also should i have a ugf in the tank?

55 gallon 3in sand bed, 40lbs live rock, 2 powerheads, penquin 330, velvet damsel, clown fish, 10 red leg crabs, and 50/50 lights.

also any help on what i should add to my tank would be great.

    WELCOME TO 3REEF!!!

I don't see any problems with your plan. Make sure that you don't have any of your fish in the tank when you pull out the old sand. There might be a sulphide zone in the sand.

I don't recommend them as they become nitrate and phosphate sinks as well as a harborer of sulfide zones. Bare Bottom and Sand Beds with ample maintenance crews are the two best options for the majority of reefers.
