    Hi all,

I got a hammer coral from liveaquaria just a few days back. It has a clover like shape with three lobes. One of these lobes (the right-hand side in the picture below) has never opened really and now the skeleton is showing on it and it has a clear slime covering it. Is it dying? What should I do?

    Water:

    sg: 1.023
    ph: 8.2
    Ca: 460-470
    NO3: 0
    NO2: 0
    NH4: 0
    PO4: 1.5 ppm
    Alk: 5

You need to do a Lugol's Solution (or other Iodine) dip quickly to try and take out that bacterial infection before it spreads. Then you need to target feed the rest of it to get some growth and get it healthy.

I think it's already too far gone for anything to help. The infection seems to have spread very rapidly. At least now I know what to look for as the early signs if I get more.
