I have had a hammer coral for about three months. When i bought it, it had 2 heads. For about the first month it look niced but didnt seem to grow. Over the past month however, the hammer has split into five heads, however, the hammer does not look and larger.

    Is this normal?

if its splitting its a good sign, i think the heads need to grow apart more before growing that way the heads won't crowd each other

honestly i have been trying to figure this same thing out for over a yr. my torch and frogspawn both started out as 2 heads with fairly long tentacles. and over a yr they both have split multiple times but appear smaller do to the shorter tentacles. i have been waiting for a long time for them to plump back up but it dont seem like it will happen. i have a tank full of healthy corals all around it.

what type of lighting do you use? what is its's tank positioning?. and what kind of flow do you have goin by it?.also check its polyps for tiny white pod. like creatures crawling on the tentacles.
