with pc 24w actinic and 10000k lighting is it ok to keep my hammer a few inches from the top of the tank or is it too much light for him? i also have some xenia in the tank which is really struggling, how can i save it? all my water params are perfect and the xenia is in a low light low flow area.

How deep is the tank? If your xenia is struggling try moving it up as high as you can get it.

its a biocube 14, 17in high and the hammer is about 4 in from the top. im kinda skeptical about moving the xenia too much today because it was moved around a lot yesterday and i think that has a lot to do with its current condition. it is actually near the top right now but its getting a little shade from a rock nearby. it looks really wilted and the tips are bleached white.

The zenia will move and grow where it is most comfortable. The hammer needs to be away from anything else as it has long sweeper tentacles and will sting anything within probably 4 to 6 inches from it. The yare not really light demanding corals and usually do well on the sandbed.
