I am starting to get a little concerned about my Hammer. It is staying withdrawn and is a new addition as of a week ago. It still has good color but is not coming out any. It opened up a little once but that's it. Back in it went. The frogspawn is doing OK as are the GSP. The purple mushroom looks good most of the time but shrivels up some time but then reopens. Could this be because of not enough light? Too much light? The flow shouldn't be a problem I think. Any advice or am I getting to impatient.

Try moving it around til' you find the best spot for it. What type of flow and light is it in?

PC's right now yea I know but still waiting on my T5 fixture. I have 2 Koralia 3's but not pointing directly at them. I have the hammer high up in the rock work because of the PC's. 4x65

I am thinking it is a light issue, especially with PCs. I have to move my coral around quite a bit before I find a spot it likes. I have PCs so I feel your pain. So keep on it. Start high in the tank and work from there. Also, it does not like direct water flow. So don't put it right in front of one of your Koralias.

I would say it is about 8 inches away from the light. Should I get it closer? Does not have direct flow so I don't think that is an issue

Do you spot feed it? If so, does it get a random blast of current to keep it clean?

I know my hammers are picky. They don't care for my VHO's, and with my MH's, they don't like it too close to em. I had them in a 60g tall hex, where they did their best, and were under a 150w MH HQI at a depth of about 20", and the light was about 5" off the water. I don't know the math for wattage per gallon, nor do I know the color spectrum for all the lighting, but just thought I'd offer some input for you to compare with.

Now that they've been moved to my 150g, they're still doing well under the VHO/MH combo, with a depth of about 20 inches, and lighting height of about 10" above the waterline.

I bulk-feed the tank with refrigerated plankton (I don't spot feed yet), and I keep them in light water flow.

    Temperature I keep between 78 and 81
    Salinity 1.023
    Calcium 500
pH, Nitrate, Nitrite, and Ammonia are all at 0

Beyond that, I don't know what else to offer you.
