Never asked what it was at the store (last minute impulse purchase while I was paying oops...) I feel like I ALMOST know everythig in my system now except this little guy. He has a soft fleshy body that seems to grow kinda like a mat (I would say encrust but he's soft) over the surrounding rock.

First pictured is of him opened up

Second picture is of him closed up afte I agitated him a little so u guys could see what it looks like

    Thank for the help...

Either an encrusting gorgonian or more likely an encrusting leather.

I agree, thas what I was thinking, I had an encrusting gorgonian hitch hike in on a rock, until my encrusting monti grew right over it. ;D

Sounds pretty cool, he's a slow grower, he's about the size of a golf ball and hasn't grown much in the couple on months he's been in there. Atleast when someone asks what it is now I have something other than a fuzzy purple rock to tell them... Thanks

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I am thinking leather as well. The way the polyps retract is very similar to leathers, but it is just a guess.
