That is a pretty in depth answer. Thank you. I do know the some of the local laws, but not all. I am mainly waiting to see if I can get out of my orders to Korea before really starting to investigate this decision. I have 4 kids in the house, so a gun safe is a must of course. Also, my wife has to be able to use this weapon as well. One of the reasons she is allowing me to finally get a weapon is because when I am out in the Field, people seem to mess with the house.

Looks like a good gun. I just need to get to a store and see how they feel in my hand lol.

Awesome gun, but I'm not really feeling the revolver.

I think I am really leaning towards a .45 of some sort. I just don't have the confidence in 9 mm ammo to really stop somebody.

I don't know about the Army but in the Marine Corps, it sucked trying to get a pistol let alone a carry permit. Have you seen the Heizer Double Tap? If it is a no I think the Springfield Armory Xdm is an awesome carry pistol.

I can't carry on post of course, and I don't live on post either. It won't be a problem getting a CC permit at all. The Heizer Double Tap looks like a nice weapon. Not to badly priced either.

I concur with a few of the above posts. Springfield XD's are awesome. They are almost like refined Glocks.
My brain left them out of my quick list, and I shouldn't have, because we can't have them here in MA... :(

Bersa. 380 will work great for low price. A 9mm is a good choice too. Either a 380 or a 9 is a good choice for ccw work.

A .25 auto will even do the trick. A 22 is too small really, but a 380 or
A 9 with good ammo will definitely do the trick.
