    Hey Tim,

We should always where gloves when doing anything with our tank. There are things that in there that can harm us, and there are things on us that can harm the tank. Latex gloves are good and you can get long ones to keep your arms dry.

Now, that being said, I have never worn gloves in any of my tanks lol. So I guess to answer your question, should we? YES. Do we? Hardly ever if you ask around lol.

Just depends on what you are comfortable with. If not wearing gloves, just be mindful of what may be on them (Have you put on hand lotion recently? Changed the oil in the car?). In most cases common sense will prevail lol.

I personally have never worn gloves in any of my tanks, so I am apart of this but 90% of my tanks are fresh water.

For the most part it would take me longer to put the gloves on, than I'm actually in the tank lol. Guess I'm a little lazy.

When touching rocks and corals, you should use at least latex gloves. Let me tell you I nuked a few small rocks from my almost 3 year old tank to get rid of some pests. And I found a lot more nasty things come out of the rocks then those pests... Like stated above for the safety of you and the tank, You should.
