Unfortunately, skimmers are one thing I would not recommend going for the cheapest you can get. Get lots of opinions, and read, read, read. Would highly recommend getting a skimmer rated for a bigger tank (say 100g rating for a 75).

As such, we need more information to give you better advice for your setup.

    What size is your tank?
Is it FO fish only, or will it be a reef setup?
Do you have a sump or refugium?
    What is your budget?

    Oh yeah, Welcome to 3reef!

Its a 36 gallon tank, that has some fish and some star polyps. I want to put more coral in it but my sea clone skimmer dosent seem to be doing its job since it barely has anything in its collection cup. Theres always a column of foam to the top but it just rarely spills over... Ive tried playing with it a lot over the past month and im not getting any good results from it... I have a canister filter. Im looking to spend around $200.

I have an aqua c remora with the maxijet 1200 on my 40 gallon tank. It works great!

I have a 45 and also use a Remora. It is a good skimmer and have had no problems with it. It was however highly recommend, when I purchased mine, to upgrade the pump to the Maxi-jet 1200. Apparently the other pump had issues with this particular skimmer.

It is pushing your budget though. Check craigslist in your area. Sometimes, you can find some sweet deals on great equipment.
