My old skimmer was SeaClone and not very effective so I need to order a new one for my new 72 gallon Bowfront this week. I have no sump so it has to be Hang on. I have about $250 to spend. 80 lbs of live rock, mushrooms, zoos, brains, 5 fish and I want to get into SPS and Clams. I really appreciate your input! Everyone I talk to has a totally different opinion. Aquamedic Turboflotor 1000 Multi SL is either the best thing ever or people can't get it adjusted and it is supposed to be hard to clean and finicky. AquaC Remora Pro is either the best thing ever or it is huge and the seals tend to crack but can be replaced with rubber bands. Red Seal Berlin X2 seems to have nothing good going for it from anyone I have sopken to yet seems very popular. etc. etc. Please Help!! I just want honest opinions from non salespeople.

    Thanks!!

i have been using an AquaC Remora w/maxi-jet 1200 and drain fitting for about a year and do not really have any major complaints. I first had it on a 30g fish only tank and have upgraded to a 75g for the past 2 months. Only realy problem is the micro bubbles, but that can be fixed with the purchase of their filter box. Other than that, you will have to replace the rubber band holding the waste box probably every 1.5 to 2 years. i know mine will have to be changed soon and i like the rubber band idea! cheap easy fix.

Red Sea Deluxe Prism Pro. Good up to 200 gallons. I use it on my 46 bow and it's super overkill.

About the best in your price range would be the Octopus BF800S. Works very well, actually the pump is a little to big for it, so many people modify it with a hole in the chamber feeding back into the pump section making a partial recirc.

I'm a real big fan of the remora pro. The octopus is pretty killer too. Don't do the redsea thing as their products are way inconsistant.
