Hang On Skimmer

    I have a 50 gallon with a 6 inch tall canopy. I want a hang on the tank protein skimmer. The clearance between the tank and canopy is about 3.5 inches.
    Can someone suggest an excellent protein skimmer that will fit under the canopy?
    How about a Red Sea Prism Pro Deluxe?
    Does this skimmer work well without problems?
    The fishes are doing very good but the water is a cloudy milk color. And brown colored algae gets on the sides of the tank.
    Will this skimmer clear up my water?

    aqua medic makes a very good hang on skimmer its a little pricey, the excalibur is a decent hang on skimmer and is very well priced. how old is the tank?

    Will the skimmers mentioned fit on my tank and clear the canopy?
    This is for the bare fish only tank.
    I'm looking for a hassle free does the job hang on the tank protein skimmer.
    The water is a cloudy milky color. Is that from the copper I put into the tank?

    I"ve check some of the websites. None really give any information about clearing a canopy.

    I would think an AquaC Remora would fit on there as long as the canopy does not go past the back of the tank. Personal opinion is that the AquaC's are the best hang on skimmer out there. We have a customer who replaced his Red Sea with one and says after a week or so that it is like night and day. If you wanted to save a couple of dollars consider the Excalibur like da_colts mentioned. They are a decent skimmer and are built very similar to a Precision Marine Hot-1 or a Knop hangon.

    Thanks Shawn. The canopy doesn't extend past the back of the tank. I'm concerned that the collection cup will not clear the bottom of the canopy. Thanks for the recommendations. Have you used any of the skimmers mentioned? What do you think about the Eheim canister wet dry 2227 filters? Are they good?
