    I have what was called toadstool leathers when I purchased them from the LFS.They have always done fairly well in my tank,with the larger of the two leaving smaller growths behind as it moved from where I had it placed.My question is can anyone tell me why do they grow off the side of rocks and extend down instead of extend up like other leather corals do ? The smaller one has extended at least an 2 inches down from the side of the rock that it is attached two.

    Can you post and image please.

    Lighting and flow are major contributors to growth type/direction.

    What type of lighting and intensity of flow?
