How do I should I go about suspending my metal halide system? I bought a 250watt system from insidesun.com It cost me only $90.:eek::eek::eek:;D;D;D

I would use picture wire and hang it from the ceiling. I always keep some 80# test fishing line around the house for hanging things but I have the feeling that nylon fishing line would be a bad choice for hanging your Metal Halides.

You can buy stainless cable at most hardware stores. Combine that with some crimps and eye bolts; cheap, effective, and looks very good if you take your time.

Personally, I went with Sun Lift suspension systems for my hood. $20 Bucks for a pair of them and they are adjustable. Drawbacks, not as clean an install look. (you have a black round pulley at the ceiling.

Just get two 1/4" toggle bolts and use 4" x 1/4" eye-bolts instead. Simply hang the MH using some lightweight white chain they sell by the foot at any homedepot or lowes. All of the materials shouldn't cost you any more than $5 or $6. The sheetrock will support it with no problems. If you happen to have a ceiling/floor joist directly over where you want to hang it, just drill the pilot hole into the joist and use eyebolts with a wood screw thread on em. It won't be going anywhere either way.

I bought a lamp tree from Zero Edge, then realized I didn't want to use my MH for my tank, doh!
