    What should i put in my refuge I have never had one I was thinking Live rubble with some chaeto

    Perfect idea, that's what I currently use. I ordered some rubble rock from BRS, good stuff IMO.

    I found a used 65g hob proten skimmer that looks like it is in heart good shape at my lfs. Do you think it is over kill? For my 30g tank and like 7g sump

    If it fits, I'd do it. Especially if you plan on heavy sps or 5+ fish. I wish I can go bigger, I have the Hydor Slim Skim rated 35g

    This build is a beast, very impressive.
    IMO, that kit seems too pricey for what you are getting and its for a 20+G system which you won't need. I'd just get dry sand for yur sand bed, some rock rubble, buy some chaeto and you're fine. For the bacteria, get Dr Tims one and only or similar, all that should cost about $30 and do the same thing for ya;)

    I got a gift card for drs foster smith that will take about 1/2 off of it so $35 for it is not to bad IMO and I can use 1/2 of the sand in the tank
