My Red Sea test kits are running low and are not reading accurately anymore. I am considering buying the reagent refill kits for alkalinity and maybe a Salifert phosphate test kit.

My question is, which is more accurate, the Phosphorus ULR or salifert kit?

Same with Alkalinity, is the Red Sea kit more accurate or the Hanna checker?

    Thanks.

I use the Hanna phos, alk, cal. And would say def do the phos and alk. They are quick and easy to use and I feel they have been fairly accurate. The cal is a pain the butt. But has been close to my other test kit I used to use. Sorry forgot the name, it wasn't a high end kit. Lfs special.

Thanks! I really need an alk. test, but wasn't sure if I should pay the $11 for the regent refill for my Red Sea kit or pay $50 for a Hanna meter.

I know my phosphate is high (lack of sps color), decent, not great growth and a little algae on my powerheads.

Yeah ultimately our tanks tell us what's going with how things look. You just have to know what to look for.

Well I order the ULR Phosphorus and alk. units.

I think the red sea test kits go quite good. Definately way better than API. But I would like to get some hanna checkers. They seem to be the most accurate test but are quite pricey.

Well, I got them in both in today.

    Alk: 201 ppm (4.02 meq/l)

    Phosphorus: 3 ppb (0.003 ppm)

It appears my phosphate is extremely low, which is obviously good. I wouldn't have guessed that it was that low.

Alkalinity is higher than I would like to keep it, but still fine. I actually just added 0.5 meq/l equivalent of baking soda the other day. So it was sitting at 3.5 meq/l, which is where I would like to keep it.
