    If I were to purchase one hanna tester which one should i purchase, calcium or alkalinity ?

    I don't have the calcium one, but I've heard it's not overly precise or accurate. My alkalinity one seems to be spot on.

    Alk. It really isn't even close. Alkalinity is much less stable than calcium.

    I have the alk.. It's well known to read about 1 unit too high. As long as you realize that it is consistent. I've heard the calcium is not that great. Pretty happy with a good ole fashioned API calcium test kit.

    Alk,checking Alk more often would benefit you more.

    The Alk. checker I use always reads the same as my Salifert kit.:confused: just remember to measure your test water and don't rely on the printed line.;)

    Don't even consider the Ca checker. It sucks. I gave mine away for free (plus universal karma)

    Alk. The ca. Checker sucks. Too many variables that can skew the test. Salifert for ca.
