July 1st is Canada Day.  Very simmilar to the 4th of July in the states so to celebrate I thought it would be fun for the members of 3Reef to tell me ( a very proud Canadian) what they know of Canada.

Well, I know that the people in Canada are very similar in friendliness and attitude to Australians.  I have been told that many times by international visitors.

Apart from that, nuthin', so please educate me :)

    What does Canada Day celebrate?

Hmm.. what do I know about Canada?

Pretty much all I know about Canada I learned from a great old movie called 'Strange Brew.' heh..

Seriously not much. I've heard your immigration laws are ..umm.. pretty welcoming. Your health care is a lot different than the USA. Generally a more liberal attitude. A lot of gun owners, yet not a lot of violence like the USA. Some Americans go up there rather than try to fix what is down here if you know what I mean. Recently some conservative politicians got a foothold though? And it's pretty up there. And you have great hockey teams. Oh did I mention beer?

Like many Americans, I've only been to Niagara Falls. ::)When I have some money and time, I'd like to go back and ski at Windsor or the like.

    Happy Canada Day! [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

I've been to Quebec, the Montreal Expo, Banf, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and a lot of points in between. Canada is not only a beautiful country but the people reflect the beauty of the land surrounding them. ;)

I remember watching some of my parents friends kids playing Lacrosse and how different it seemed to me. Having only been exposed to US sports and the Olympics, this was something new, and believe me I was not going to try it, 'cause I couldn't get the hang of throwing and catching the ball with the webbed stick.

Happy Canada Day to all Canadians everywhere!!!

John I have heard the same thing about Canadians and Australians. It seems Whistler (the ski resort) is were all the young traveling Australians go to work and have fun. And young Canadians skip the European trips to head to Australia.

On June 20, 1868, a proclamation signed by the Governor General, Lord Monck, called upon all Her Majesty's loving subjects throughout Canada to join in the celebration of the anniversary of the formation of the union of the British North America provinces in a federation under the name of Canada on July 1st.
The July 1 holiday was established by statute in 1879, under the name Dominion Day.
And it has since been changed to Canada Day.

Strange Brew is an exact representation of every single Canadian :), Having the last name McKenzie it was real fun when Bob and Doug was big.

You have movies and the internet in Canada???  Just Kidding!!!  One of my best friends was born and raised in Calgary and when she was a teenager, her family moved to Ottowa.  When she tells me of some of the stupid questions Americans ask her, it's embarassing.  (And yes, she HAS been asked if they have the internet in Canada).

Happy Canada Day Jason and other Canadians!!!

I can't believe someone asked her that! ;D

Jason, seeing it now, I meant I wanted to ski in Whistler, not Windsor!

(I want to get Strange Brew on DVD, it's been years since I've seen that.)

Back to beers, I would like to know what good Canadian beers there are other than Moosehead which I burned out on. Please educate me! :)

There are a ton of micro breweries around and some have now gone National, Like Moosehead. My all time fav would be Sleemans Honey Brown made in Guelf Ontario, Next would be any Micro Brewed Pale Ale. It is very rare to drink the same beer from pub to pub as they all have different micro breweries they deal with.
the National Brand beers are: Canadian (Swill), Labat Blue (I'd rather drink swill), Labat genuine draft (good), Molson Export (good), and then all the beer that is form the US but made right up in Canada :) like Bud, Coors and so on. Not that I know much about beer
