No it's from V for Vendetta.

Remember remember the 5th of November, the gun powder treason and plot. I see no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.

It's a British thing...I don't know if it's true or not but Guy Fawkes in the movie tried to blow up the Parliament building a long time ago and it was on November 5th. Some kind of message to the government that was taking over everyone's lives or something....

It was around long before V for Vendetta. The just of it is that on Nov. 5 1605 a bunch of Catholic terrorist planned to blow up the Parliament building, needless to say they got captured and were hanged in 1606.

so every Nov. 5th people have fires and burn effigies of Guy Fawkes. It's kind of funny that in the last 400 years people did a complete flip on the moral character of Guy Fawkes, back then he was a traitor today he's a hero. Guess that shows you popular sentiment towards the ruling government.
