So we bought a PP last week a he is great and eats a lot but ive heard that you need to feed them shellfish to keep their beaks from overgrowing. We feed him "clams on the half shell" right now which he loves but the shells are obviously too large for him to chomp on. Anyone have any suggestions for something a little smaller that he could break up?

those are the clams that Ive been feeding him. they are about a inch or so wide though. his mouth is maybe 1/8" - 3/16" wide. The only other thing that ive found is grabbing the little baby snails in the tank when i find them and show them to him. He eat them up real quick.

When i had a predator tank I would go buy oysters..crack them a little with a hammer (just enough so the fish knows the food is in there) and then let them do the work of tearing that shell apart to get to it...worked well :)

Your local oysters, right? Not those big Pacific ones?
