hard mushroom coral

I just got this coral from someone and it was already looking a little sick. Its been in my 90 gallon now for two days. Just got home and half of the coral is bleached, giving lots of slime off. Its on the bottom of the tank with moderate current. I have a total of 765w of light. Two 250w MH and four 65w CF, the rest of the wattage is moon lights. The tank is well established, more the 6 years. I`m running two cannister filters, 1 magnum 350 with some carbon in it and one fluval 304, also with carbon. The carbon is roughly 2 weeks old in the filters, infact just cleaned the pre filters lastnight.

I have other corals in the tank as well, 2 kenya tree, 1 brain coral, mushroom anemones, star polyps and 1 long tentacle anemone. Fish are just 2 clarki`s and 1 yellow tang. Fish seem fine, all other corals are looking a bit distressed.

Softies are on 1 side and the hards on the other. Im getting ready to do a water change, 20 gallons and test all parameters. I`m thinking water will be fine. My question is, anyway to save the hard mushroom coral? I placed it half way under a ledge to give it some cover from the light. I will probably have to get some new carbon as well. Also I do run a 3 1/2 foot counter current skimmer that does produce fantastic.

Has anyone been able to save this kind of coral while this is going on?

I'm not sure what a hard mushroom is? Sorry. There are a few things it could be. Light differences between the old tank and yours could be stressing it. or chemical warfare with another coral. Is there anything close to it that could be stinging it?

By hard mushroom coral i`m meaning, Fungia family of corals. My temp is, 76.5, CA-460,Nitrite-0ppm, PH-7.8, Ammonia-0ppm, Nitrate-0ppm

 

And nope, nothing at all in the area of that coral to sting it, nothing fell on it. It`s mouth looks fine, as well does half of the coral. Should maybe I kill the lights on that half of the tank?....im baffeled

 

Maybe you should seperate it into another tank and change the lighting..

 

I do have a 29 long but it leaks, so I have jack squat to put it in. Why would I want to change the lighting? Im thinking maybe just turn that MH off on that side and leave the CF on. As I said, I have placed it under a ledge to block some light. I`m just wondering if anyone has had or have this coral and saved it while distressed

 

I would leave it and try to target feed it for awhile. I have only ever had 1 Fungia and it didn't do well in a low nutrient tank. But I've known many who keep them happy and long with feeding.
Is it just bleached or is the flesh receding?

Just looks more bleached, like i said its giving off alot of slime. I pointed a PH in that direction just to rid the slime. Its not directly pointed at it as I know they dont like alot of current. You think it will except a bit of food while distressed?.. I have shut down the MH on that end of the tank. Just a bit concerned for the other corals

 

Just looked at it again and yes. Looks like some of the flesh is receding inbetween its skeleton. Damn, I dont want to toss it, I have read that sometimes they will make a come back.

 

Here are some picture of the sick coral.... any hope for this thing? Anyone with some good, quick advice, it would be greatly appreciated! Tried feeding it and it got worse and slimey...
