Ok I bought a new bucket of salt the other day. Use Red Sea Coral Pro.. I was making salt water and opened the new bucket of salt and its a solid block. My last bucket was soft like sand. I can't scoop it out. The LFS is not around the corner and bought it over a month ago. Any suggestions on what I can do? If not I can go back to the LFS but won't be able to make water this week.

    Hi andru 1313

its solid because moisture has got in and made it damp
happens to me regular as I live in a high humidity area of the world

nothing wrong with it, you can still use it, its just not as convenient to use as it would be when its dry and pours easily

Like Steve said A Hammer and I'll add a screwdriver/chisel will make it into small enough chunks to handle once you bust through the upper most crust then it make be dry ? The chunks will dissolve once tossed into water . Hit the side of the bucket with a hammer to break it up also this will work..Again as already mentioned the salt is fine to use.

Only problem with salt like that is measuring it out... It will have a different volume if you use measuring cups and if you weigh it it will have a different weight due to the added moisture....
