i noticed a really hard white substance dotted around my aquarium, primarily away from my filter...at first i thought one of my kids got tiny pieces of styrofoam into my tank but touched it and it is rock hard....any idea what it is???? my tank is lil over 2mos old, 55gal, with javanese damsel, yellow tang, and last week i added blue leg hermit and 2 turbos....gettin rid of one of the turbos, this week because their work is mostly done for now, but cannot figure out what is on my glass....all my parameters are good

Probably spirorbid worms. If you have a magnifying glass, check them out. They're tiny filter feeder worms with heads sort of like feather dusters; but you generally can't see the duster with the naked eye.

I would highly suspect spirorbid polychaetes. It's a feather-duster worm with a Calcium Carbonate shell.

They are beneficial, as yet, another filter feeding animal that aids in maintaining a desireable aquarium biotope!
