    is there a particularly tougher species that would be able to hold his own / be tolerated by my purple dottyback?? I just cannot catch him to remove him from my tank

    Lawnmower Blenny or Starry Blenny will hold its own if its big enough...Pink Spotted Goby will hold its own too..and might even be the bully..lol

    i dont know man, a new gobyis often pretty fragile unless its a bit of a bully too. I would try to get the dottyback out first.

    been trying a fish trap for the past few days the dottyback wont go near it. I dont think a lawnmower would do well i dont have much algae growth to sustain it...ill take the biggest baddest goby i can get hah, if he eats pinky i wont be mad
