Hardy tang best tankmates?

I'm wanting a tang in my 70 gal, I will be upgrading my tank in Feb to a 200 gal, I'm just waiting for my parents to move down with it, it's been freshwater for probably 5 years but I'm going to convert that to fowlr when it's here. right now I have a fairy wrasse and fox face in one 72 gal tank and 2 clowns and 2 anthias in another 72 gal tank.


Which tank could I add one to? I'll probably keep all the tanks up but will eventually want to add the tang to the larger when it gets bigger, I would like to start with a tang that is very small and I can watch grow but one that also isn't overly mean. I'm also not big on yellow or hippo tangs

Any suggestions?

 

Kole tangs for the 70. Sohal Tang for the 200g. I would get a chevron tang but they look ugly when they get older.

With that size of a tank, you will have no size restrictions on tangs.

What do you think of the Naso or Orange Shoulder? Both get very large and are peaceful, but are gorgeous fish.

What tangs have you looked at that you like?

 

You should be good with adding the tang to either of your tanks. There is plenty of territory left in both.

 

Would a kole be okay long term in a 72?

 

Kole, Tomini, and white lined (basically a Kole) are all good in a 72. You could also do a rabbitfish inside a 72 instead of a tang. They are the same size as a bristletooth type tang.

 

Aren't rabbitfish the same as foxface?

Powder blue? I've always liked those.

 

Personally, I'd get an achilles and live the dream. The sohal is also a great option, but you could easily get a clown tang for much less money and you could watch the stripes get more defined as it grows.
