I picked up a Harliquin and was told he eats starfish. He recommended droping in a chocolate starfish for home every 1 to 2 weeks. Does this sound right? I could alwats use advice from someone with experience with these guys.

Here is a pic of mine chowing on a chocolate chip:

Personally I think he hs a great looking specimen and cant believe the pics thsis iPhone 4 can take.

    Thanks for any advice.

That’s right, you will need to feed him star fish, 1-2 weeks sounds like solid advice to me but I have heard of people only feeding them once a month. I wouldn’t advice that since he might find another food source if he gets hungry.

    Yes, Iphone 4 rocks !

Yeah! The new HDR feature of the iPhone camera is great!

I am starting to get quite a few asterina starfish in my tank. My tank is only a few weeks old and I have about 5 in there that I can see. I'm sure there numbers are going to grow in the months to come. How many asterina would I need to sustain a harliquin shrimp?

Follow that link I sent you, its very detailed and accurate.

As with most animals in the tank, you feed them what they can consume in a certain mount of time and no more. So you will probably have some testing to do. You don't want half eaten stars in there polluting your water.

How old is your tank ? you said a few weeks, how did the cycle go ? this is not a rushed tank is it?

I believe it will keep your asterinas in check and will keep your harlequin healthy.

It cycled fast. Im not rushing it. I just wondered if in a few months or if the asterinas got out of control I could get a shrimp to control them and keep the shrimp fed and healthy.
