I'm going to have to go with HP on this one, but mostly the books, same with LOTR. We need to find a good director that can put an entire book into a movie and not leave out big parts, ehem Dumbledore's funeral, or put parts of one book in another movie, ehem the whole Shelob's lair thing was def in the second book. As far as vampires and werewolves, I like the Underworld movies.

I liked the first two better than that one. It was a good movie to explain the whole history of everything but didn't keep up with the first two IMO.

I haven't read the books for either of the two. But I did like the Harry Potter movies. Fell asleep to the first twilight movie, AND fell asleep to the second one haha. Although I did think it was hilarious when he went in the sunlight and told her he sparkles. I about died laughing, how lame is that. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is better than twilight!! I do really like True Blood can't wait until that comes back on tv too!

indeed it would. one thing I'd throw out - dumbledore seems reactionary while gandalf seems to set the pieces in motion... IMO, gandalf would outthink dumbledore

    ;D;D;D nice

Yeah, they did have two actors play dumbledore - I preferred the first one, but second did OK... (not sure if you're saying gandalf/dumbledore were played by same actor (they were not)).

I agree and that is true, but the LotR movies are chronologically more accurate than the books are... I think if they would have done the movies in the same order as the books, it would have felt weird. The Shelob scene (in book and movie) take place in parallel to the siege of Minas Tirith. This is clear in the movies but not as clear in the books. IMO. I support moving the Shelob scene to the third movie. I think that was the right move.

They are not the same actor. The guy in Lord of the Rings is Ian McKellen, who also played "Magneto" in the Xmen movies.

The better Dumbledore (one in the first two movies) was played by Richard Harris. He had an appearance somewhere in Gladiator...can't remember where. He was Marcus something rather.

I don't like the current Dumbledore. The dumbledore in the books is freakin' smart, kind, funny, and seems to always have a plan or know what's going on (for the most part). The dumbledore in the movies is this aggressive weirdo, and he makes dumbledore seem more of an "average" person instead of the demigod he is in the books. No, he's not really a demigod in the books. But he's probably the most powerful wizard in the harry potter series. And when the current dumbledore (in the movies) tried to say the funny comments the dumbledore in the books made, it made him sound like a pedifile rather than a witty old man. And then he's always mad or yelling at something and freaking out, when the dumbledore in the books is always calm, cool, and collected.
