Central America is the tapering isthmus of southern North America.

Asia, Antarctica, Africa, Europe, N. America, S. America, Australia. That adds up to 7.

What gives? I did look it up. Did you? I suggest Google

There are 7. Central America is part of North. I'm not arguing this anymore, it's like arguing about the color of the sky.

im not arguing this either anymore the point of this thread was about the reef protection i just pointed out that it is in Belize as part of Central America that the second biggest reef is.

here is what i found in google

From the mid-19th century, United States atlases more commonly treated North and South America as separate continents, while atlases published in Europe usually considered them one continent. However, it was still not uncommon for United States atlases to treat them as one continent up until World War II.[51] The Olympic flag, devised in 1913, has five rings representing the five inhabited, participating continents, with America being treated as one continent and Antarctica not included.[22]
From the 1950s, most United States geographers divided America in two[51] – consistent with modern understanding of geology and plate tectonics. With the addition of Antarctica, this made the seven-continent model. However, this division of America never appealed to Latin America, which saw itself spanning an America that was a single landmass, and there the conception of six continents remains, as it does in scattered other countries.
In recent years there has been a push for Europe and Asia together to be considered a single continent, dubbed "Eurasia". In this model, the world is divided into six continents (if North America and South America are considered separate continents).

It's not about family fun captian, it's about this website being a little less agro then you have presented yourself ;) Suggesting people die is very out of line.

Guess oil coming your way has you on edge and are lashing out at hobbyist who asked a simple and honest question. You didn't just pull out the big guns, you went nuclear on his arse.

Your post deserves a "good for you"::)

Just because they're going on vacation doesn't mean they're not a diver with lots of experience.

I agree with the fact that we shouldnt take things from the ocean ourselves.. Im actually surprised people can just say "oh. that looks nice.. ill take it" ( of course within the rules)
but then again.. if everyone that likes to dive just took stuff.... ( thats just like.. really??)

I believe that only people with licences should be able to harvest the reefs.. and then just propagate so the need of going back to take more stops.
I think the bitter sweet for me in this hobby is the fact that i LOVE to have corals on my tank.. But I HATE to know they took this from the ocean...
I mean... who even said that this was ours to take? since when do we have the right to just TAKE things and call it ours. ( it was there long before we were even born and we are destryoing it)

I'm not saying OH YOU MUST NOT DO IT.. but i do suggest for you to think that it is not just you who wants to go and take some things from there. I think its best ( for what is worth) to just buy it from your LFS or Online, you get a better looking piece IMO.

I dont want to sound like a jerk to just come in and give you a "speech" but.... I strongly believe that it is nessesary to put that out there.

Quite frankly I understand where everyone is sitting in this conversation and why. But IMO If your gonna do it, Know what your doing... And If there is a way to do it legally then I dont see why It cant be done.

Im pretty sure someone researched how much could be taken by average with little to no affect on the reefs locally... Heck, if someones getting paid to figure out what kind of music people shop more with, Im sure someone put some thought into the aspect of collecting wildlife.

Just be careful and have fun!
