has any one nuked their live rock like this

I've heard you can nuke aiptasia and live rock by putting it in the microwave is this true?

 

Why even try!!! it will kill off everything. If you really want to do something extreme just for the heck of it make sure you know where the aiptasia is and then use a blow torch on that area. it will kill the aiptasia and not everything in the rock you cant see.
But if you just have one pick up some aiptaisa x and kill it properly

 

I wouldn't want to breath the fumes either. Some guy I had read about on one of the forums had boiled his rock with zoanthids and severely damaged his lungs. Bleach it or use kalk / aptaisa x, but don't boil or microwave.

Have you ever thrown a wet rock into a fire? It explodes and shoots pieces of rock like bullets.

Better to use traditional methods rather than destroy your microwave or kill yourself.

Microwave a un-cracked egg. Wet stone of any kind and heat do not mix.

 

We used some calcium supplement in a syringe and sprayed it right in the nasty little suckers mouth and that took care of him .. Havent seen him back.

 

+1 on the pepp shrimp. i had the problem a few yrs ago and 2 shrimps cleaned house. only problem is they eventually ran outta food. think they died and fed my fish.

watch out for camel shrimp. they look like pepps, but don't eat aptasia.
