every one has their opinion, I wouldn't never use a ground probe and never had, I think if there is a defective device the best solution is to replace it

I believe that it may be one of my heaters as even with the probe out I got a tingle and unplugged a heater and it went away. Any recommendations. I am using visi-therm stealth heaters right now.

You may also not have true grounds in your house. My house is wired with 2 wire, not 3, even my grounded outlets aren't truly grounded. Not sure if that would do anything to your situation or not though.

BC mentioned a great point. If your house has a floating ground then there is really nothing that will truly ground your tank, you will have a ground loop problem. A grounding probe cannot create voltage if it's actually grounded. If it's grounded to a "ground" that is not actually grounded then it may show some voltage potential due to natural capacitance in the material the ground probe is made of.
This reminds me of the problems that the first wave of Korallias had with stray voltage. Your heaters may be leaking voltage. Remove those and see if you feel a bite in your fingers, with and without the heaters plugged in, and with/without the probe. If it seems that the heaters are the cause, trash them.
It may also be wise to verify that your house has true earth ground by getting an electrician to check it out.
