Has anyone ran Phosguard and SeaGel in a AIO?

I'm just starting up an AIO 29g setup. Trying to see whats going to be most beneficial for filtration, as I've decided to scratch an under-neith sump. I plan on using the inTank setup such as, Purigen/Carbon/Filter floss; despite not being able to run a refugium underneith the tank, or behind the tank(as I haven't seen many successful looking refugium/skimmer combo's for the AIO's). However, I was curious if there is any beneficial or negative side effects from using Seachem Phosguard products, as well as the SeaGel. I didn't know if there was an alternative to using them versus the other or if it should be traded off on.

Any inputs helpful as I haven't found a whole lot on my question specifically.

Phosguard is aluminum based and not as safe as iron based GFO products which do not release stored up substances when they are exhausted. The only plus, if you want to call it that, is aluminum based products work quickly. On the minus side, you never ever want to do anything quickly in this hobby, only bad things happen quickly, all good things take time. By that I mean you want to make changes slowly, water quality, fish additions, etc.

This has been one thing thats always worried me when it comes to chemical dosing, rather its large or small, it doesnt take much to alter tank effects instantly. Is their any other safe measures instead of dosing on smaller tanks?

Lastly, is it beneficial enough or should I go with more options when it comes to just the standard AIO inTank filtration setups like: filter floss/carbon/purgein?

Place 1-2 tablespoons of GFO media like Phosban or bulk GFO from someone like BRS in a filter bag and stick it in a medium flow area of the rear chamber, thats all you need. I prefer to run less and change more often so its usually a spoonfull for me in my 16G nano.

Phosguard is FAST, I used BRS, GFO in a attempt to get algea under control and it was slow. I put some Phosguard in the reactor and I saw results in a matter of days. I ran the Phosguard for about two weeks and took it out. I replaced the media once every four days. In a few days Ill put a little bit of GFO back in. There is a tiny spot of Algea in the back that should be gone in a few days. The rest is GONE!!

My tank was running for six months with no maintance. My kids fed the fish crazy amounts of food so it was horrible.

I've always used phosguard on my tank...I run it in my canister.....It has always seemed to help with keeping algae down.

I'm running phosguard and carbon in a reactor right now to help out with some new tank syndrome I have going on in my new setup.I normally do use brs gfo,but have ran phosguard off and on for years with no ill effects including leather corals.
