Fixing to make a new light purchase, and have been trying to read up on LED's. I have a 55, and know nothing about LED's. What do I need to know when researching them? What am I looking for, etc? Tank will be mostly softies, maybe a few hard corals in time, and I would like to get into clams later. Gonna read some more threads in mean time. Thx

since its only softies i think you could probably get away with 3 or 4 panorama pro modules. they look great over any tank and are very economical compared to most led's. they will grow every softy imaginable and maybe even some lps, you may need to pop one more on if you want sps. but thats the best thing about these. you can upgrade without buying a whole new fixture!

check out my post on "so you thinking about led's". I went the hot and loud T5 route and would never recommend it. It's cheap at first but my electric went up $30 and the room was hot and loud. I have reefbrites which are great. I would recommend exactly what your doing, ask questions, go to the LFS and talk around. Don't get sold on price or the LFS's recommendation. Take their advice and go on the net and compare.

Not wanting to Do it myself, I'd rather buy to be honest. JD, I read your LED post earlier, is that light a 48" set up?

For that price and your budget, ya can go the panorama leds, prob 5-6, or for about $600 ya can get some ecoxotic prol strips, prob 5 of them will work! Or look at JD's reefbrites, don't know squat about them! But he LOVES them!
