Remember to never block the output of a skimmer ::). A long time ago I was cleaning my skimmer (berlin xl at the time) and i was using a sponge (like the ones for washing dishes with a coarser side) to clean the inside of the return line and the phone rang. So i forgot the sponge in there. Plugged everything back up and left the room while the skimmer filled up (the XL were BIG ). When i came back the collection cup had overflowed about 10 gallons on the floor. Thats a mag 12 at 0" head plugged on the skimmer for ya ;D.

Yup, spilled about 3-4 gallons when power went out (no check valve at the time) and overflooded my sump! Ack. ;D

Also spilled about 2-3 gallons when the o-rings on my overflow went out while trying to solve a small leak on the outlet hose on the OF.

    Your Killing me!

Come on! I'm just starting out with this and I've already spent more than the national debt of some countries! :wacky:

Seriously how long can I expect a new glass aquarium to last before leaking??

Thanks. This is a great post!!:)

I had a 40 gal custom fresh water tank that leaked 30 gallons overnight. I woke up and stepped on the wet carpet and ran out to find the tank almost empty. :(

Come to think of it, I might fix the tank and use it for reef or breeder tank. :)

Chromis got stuck in my durso, tank overflowed :(

Luckily, the water ran down the power cable for the MH lighting and straight into the power point blowing it to smithereens. Unluckily the DSB imploded and killed everything, not to mention that I had no powere in the house for a while.
