I put a McCoskers wrasse in my tank yesterday. He started eating right away. He also ate this morning too. But since this afternoon I have not seen him. I know he could be hiding anywhere or even dead, but all the crabs are on the rocks and I've never seen a dead fish without crabs all over it. anyway, do you think my dimond watchman gobby could have eaten the wrasse?? Or does this fish tend to hide for hours on end?

The diamond goby is not a predator per se, so the wrasse would have to be extremely small for him to mistake it for food.

I've never had that particular species, but of the wrasses I have had, they tend to hide very well in the rocks or even bury themselves in the sand.

    yupp!

In the beginning, don't be surprised to not see him for days! Make sure he has plenty of hiding spots, and make sure you're tank is covered! HE WILL JUMP, not if, but when! Did you look around your tank?

I've looked as much as I can. My tank is one giant hiding place! I have so many caves and ledges, it's great for fish to hide. The tank is covered, thanks. Maybe he is just in the sand or behind/under a rock. But, can they really hide for days? If you'd like to see my tank, it's on youtube under 10galreef. Don't worry, I have a 75 now.

    Wow, nice tank!

To answer your question, yes they can literally hide for days. My very first was a red coris wrasse, and he disappeared for so long that I was sure I'd lost him somehow. Then one day I came home and there he was again. After that I kinda got used to it being their nature.
