Ok so i just got timers for my lights the other day and i havent set them up yet. Last night I went out and ended up staying somewhere else so my lights were on all night (compact florecents) and when i got home there is brown algea all over the sand and live rock. All levels seem to be fine should i be worried or just leave it alone??

Just leave it. Once you leave them off for the night and get back on a regular lighting schedule it will go away. Probably be gone by morning actually.

it could be diatoms which are normal when there are silicates in a tank
